Just about anything can have a use in a SHTF situation. Looking for ways to use everyday items in an emergency is essential to being fully prepared.

you know coat hangers are starting to
get scarce we have all the plastic the
wood all kind of different type coat
hangers but the old wire coat hangers
you're not able to find like you used to
except maybe the dry cleaners and that's
where we get most of ours but before you
throw away those old coat hangers it's a
great way to recycle and they can be
used for a multitude of purposes in an
shtf grid down situation now before I
get started I always get this when I do
some of these multiple how-to videos is
well you should use this well you should
use that well this is about survival
and this is about doing with what you
have on hand having old coat hangers a
lot of times we have them in our closet
we can use them it's a great way to
recycle these old coat hangers but it
can also be used in case you can't find
the articles that you need for a belt if
you've lost your keeper form some wire
bring it around
use it as a belt keeper there we go
you can also use this to tie up loose
straps and things like that to secure
them down to your pack keep from hanging
to the side if you have an aluminum
bottle on a fire and you need to pick it
up of course it's hot taking an old coat
hanger cutting off the ends and curling
them up give you a little bit of spring
tension depress poke it in you can pick
it up when it's good and cool just
retrieve your coat hanger you can even
make small guy wire and s hooks run some
paracord through your guy wire take your
s hook you can hook it up then when you
want to release your guy wire you've got
it ready take a length of wire and put a
hook in it and you can retrieve lost
items that have fallen behind counters
and things like that that are hard to
get to places you can fashion your
hanger either in a knot like this or on
the branch a good place to hang your hat
your coat a pack anything else that you
want to get off the ground
once you get a needle fashion just run
the thread through fishing line whatever
you have available even paracord and you
can make repairs on tears and gear or
things like that and this may be one
ugly paper clip but it can work in a
pinch and I do mean a pinch course using
a coat hanger you can make a little
stand for your penny stove and I'll have
a link to how to make the penny stove
right up here in the corner these little
stoves are cool we have a radio with a
broken antenna there we go perfect
and it works this may not be the
prettiest safety pin you've ever seen
but it sure can work in a pinch it's
going to hold well and if you need your
gear off pop it loose you can reuse it
later having some sort of dial rod also
helps it allows you to get those circles
like you need to you have a shelter or
tent you don't have your tent pegs use
an old coat hanger bin to hook
you can hold it in the ground and you
can also use it to hang little
knickknacks that way you can save little
money from going to Home Depot or Lowe's
use it on things more important and if
you have the old M 1935 1938 pistol
belts with accessories these little wire
hangers are indispensable of course the
old standby of using a coat hanger when
you have your keys locked in your car
just to be able to use it getting it
down in here now a lot of modern cars
you're not gonna be able to do that but
a lot of cars can still use the old coat
hanger method and how many times have
you lost your string that ties to a
piece of clothing run wire up through
come out the other side tie it on
then just run your string right through
now to me that's the best trick of the
day plus you can have an SH TF if you're
jogging shorts lose the string and of
course using a piece of wire to pull
things out of the drain and that keeps
your wife from having an SH TF oh yeah
using it for a hanger and of course the
old standby is to take your old
marshmallow or hot dog wienie run your
wire through it now we're ready for a
marshmallow roast of course if you

yeah there we go
now honestly we're just taking wire and
we're using it for a lot of different
things and you can use standard regular
wire but the one thing about coat
hangers they seem to have a rigidity
that a lot of other wires that are
rolled up do not have so this is just a
great option it's a ready resource and
it's cheap so guys hold onto the old
coat hangers you never know when you
might need something just using your
mind thinking about these things on how
to use it you know these are pretty
simple is something that any of us could
probably figure out but in a panic
filled situation it's great to have some
ideas put back you just never know what
you can use them for be strong be of
